  1. We did this in class once, he filled a balloon with ~50/50 O2 and H2. There was quite a boom and the air "caught fire" ...but no tremendous shockwave...
  2. Some scientists did an experiment with how much Mercury in a fish is needed to seriously harm a human being (something like that...) so they ate fish 3 times a day, 7 days a week for an allotted amount of time. They also, to counter the Mercury affecting the body, had 6 cups of "black" tea everyday. It isn't an antidote, but it sure did help.
  3. Ok, just clearing it up...it would have to grow 20x it's current size to "turn on" and become a star, right? But there is metallic H at it's core...right? If you want, I can get you the link from the thread I am talking about and see what I'm trying to get at. BTW, does the Sun take up ~99.9% of all mass in our solar system? Is that true?
  4. Is it possible? I mean, it's so huge I'm sure if...it somehow grew a little nucelar fusion would occur, if it did....would it be anywhere near as bright as our Sun, or would it be a red star? Also, is there metallic H at Jupiter's core, and liquid H as you go farther out, and then of course ending with H2? So many questions, it's a debate I have with this other guy at another forum...
  5. Lmao, I'm just going with what my science teacher taught us....he says proxima centuari is the closest star to us, and has it's own planets, wow, guess not.
  6. I'm pretty sure Proxima Centuari is the closest star to our Sun, and yes, it does have planets and they follow the same pattern as ours.
  7. Hmm...well....for every grain of sand on the Earth, there are 100 000 000 (I think) stars...then....however many planets that has....yeah, we need more info.
  8. Oh boy here we go....writing straight line equations from y=mx+b to standard form (Ax+By+C=0) y=mx+b i know that y=-1/2 m=1 and x=4 .:. -1/2=(1)(4)+b -1/2=4+b find common demoninator and multiply it by all 2(-1/2) = 2(4)+2(b) -1=8+2b isolate b -2b=8+1 -2b=9 b= -9/2 as a rule though....no fractions in final answer get everything on one side 0=x-y-9/2 common demoninator, multiply it by all 2(0)=2x-2y-2(9/2) 0=2x-2y-9 just switch so =0 is on right side....neater 2x-2y-9=0 Eh? Did I do it right...I think I did....this is how we were taught...sorry it's long I know....
  9. yeah, let's use the "Rasin Muffin" model, again. imagine you are a raisin in the middle of a muffin being baked, the raisins near the outside of the muffin will appear to be moving away at a faster pace, since they are simply farther away....when in reality everything is moving at the same pace... Red shift only tells us how far and fast tjhey are moving away from us, and what the star is composed of...
  10. That is crazy!, wow, we can learn so much if it is an actual black hole forming, this is awesome!
  11. Well...we basically took an "into to chemistry" course, it's just the mandatory academic (advanced) Science course I took, we learned the basics...the elements, how table is organized, all the models of the atoms and models that made a big different (Gold Foyle, Electrolosys etc) mainly focusing on the atom at the last part... I LOVED it though...took quite an interest in it and I think I'll be taking Gr 10 Academic Science first semester next year, and Gr 11 Chemistry 2nd semester...but....yeah, I just took an interest in Chemistry and kept reading after the unit was done... Sorry to hijack the thread...Yes my name refers to nitroglycerin
  12. Strange how "Intro to Chemistry" isn't introduced until Gr. 10, I'm in gr 9 and we already finished it...
  13. That's what I think it is...along with Pluto too...but that's a whole other story..
  14. I don't think it's a new planet, I don't even think it's in the same solar plane...to "considered" a planet, it must have formed around the same time as all the other 8 planets did, and follow the same patterns, I havn't read much about it...does it follow any patterns of the planets in our solar system?
  15. Yeah, it's solely based on imagination, cmon now... Make it somehow NEED CO2 to live, it would work well for that, it adapts with very hot climates...and....lives underground to avoid the H2SO4 (Sulfuric Acid) Rain...
  16. Hey guys...I'm 15 and I love science...yeah, I'm here, w00t.
  17. I just don't see why we somehow get the enemy to SOMEHOW (rig it maybe) to make Fr fall into water....get a load of francium and drop it in some water near the enemy or...SOMETHING like that, it's pretty simple and it'd be damn well effective...

Man, I love this place! I was just searching around (I'm in gr 9 BTW) for ...actually I don't remember...but I got here, and I am VERY impressed, the EXACT kind of site I was looking for! I LOVE Chemistry and Biology, but mostly Chemistry, hopefully going to do something related to that when I'm older... I just want to say how awesome of a forum this is, I'm so happy
