I thought I`de try a new synth for making Calcium Sulphide crystals (the stuff that glows in the dark used in paints). I made a batch of Sodium Sulphide then added Calcium Carbonate, it reacted making calcium sulphide and sodium carbonate, (all went well!). the only problem is that it doesn`t glow in the dark? so I did some research and found out that it wont unless it has some heavy metals involved for the crystals to grow onto (Copper can be used too). so does anyone have any idea how I might accomplish this?

the molecules PO4-3 and NO3-3 both have double bonds PO4-3 is a tetrahedral, that means all 4 oxygens are sharing a total of 5 electrons with the phosphorus, and P only needs 3 electrons! How is this possible Also, with NO-3 there is one double bond making the Os share 4 electrons with the N which also only needs 3 electrons, why are these electrons in bonds rather than simply being paired off on the oxygens! For example O- | N--O- || O Why not O- | N--O- | O-

In pyrotechnics Chlorine donors are often used to enhance certain colors (blues in copper for example). powdered PVC is used. I`de like to know it Fluorine would make them brighter/more vivid? and could PTFE, PolyTetraFuoroEthylene (teflon) could be converted for the same purpose?

have a Sodium salt or higher that you wish to displace with potassium? it`s easy if you smoke or know people that smoke, get them to colect their ashes in a jar (I do) BBQ ash is just as good! when you`ve collected enough add boiling water to it, just enough to cover it by about an inch, then stir it well, let it settle. filter through coffee filter paper into a clean vessel. reduce it volume by evaporation, on a heater, in the sunshine etc... now you have a salt that you want to be a potassium salt... example Sodium Chlorate. simple, mix your "ash liquid" into the Sodium Chlorate soln (saturated) and then wait until your potassium Chlorate crystals drop out of …

Well, this forum doesn't have any posts so I figured I'd create one... I'm interested in the synthesis of O-ethyl S-diisopropylaminomethyl methylphosphonothiolate. Since this is essentially the most toxic substances known to man, methods of synthesis are quite difficult to find. If anyone knows anywhere to find such an item, or is good enough to derive one yourself from the name (I'm not that good yet ), post a reply I know that it's a sulfonated organophosphate with the following structure: CH3 O CH(CH3)2 \ || / P - S - CH2CH2 - N / \ CH3CH2O CH(CH3)2 BTW, I'm not a terrorist or arab , i'm just intere…

So I've obtained some Mercuric salts, HgO, Hg(NO3)2, and HgSO4. Here is my delimm I want the mercury, pure stuff, all I need is a reaction to happen, and im thinking activity series. In all of my searching on google, all I find is that This shit is dangerous, and I know this, also, It says that the salts decompose in reaction with light. I'm not gonna heat this stuff, because even though I know it will decompose, i cant control the vapor. Any suggestions?
