Bob87
anhydride of ferrocene? as it is possible to prepare adamantane anhydride in reaction of acid + DCC in DCM...
John Cuthber
What do you mean by an anhydride of ferrocene? There's nothing you can add water to and get ferrocene. Similarly there's nothing you can add water to and get adamantane.
Bob87
I have found the reaction procedure, where they use adamantane carboxylic acid and DCC to form adamantyl anhydride, i was just wondering if it could work also for ferrocene acid... Fuzzwood
Well, that would have a similar structure as acetic anhydride, but with an adamantane group dangling from either end. Ferrocene is not an acid. It is a Fe2+ ion sandwitched by two cyclopentadiene anions. However, if one of those rings has a carboxylic acid function, then yes it might be possible. John Cuthber
yes, its Ferrocenecarboxylic acid If that is what you mean, why did you not say so in the first post?
