Osteoanabolic agents

Recommended Posts

Hi guys!

I would like to request your help.As you guessed from the title,I am looking for the most effective and proven osteoanabolic agents out there.I am not looking for osteoporosis drugs, biphosphonates or other bone resorption inhibiting drugs.I am looking for bone anabolic agents which enhance bone size,NOT density.Basically I am looking for something which can thicken bones,ie make their diameter bigger, wider, thicker, enhance their cortical thickness.I am looking for these agents because I had an accident in the past, which left me disfigured on many places, needless to say that I lost bone as well. And no,grafting is unfortunately impossible.

My doctor told me that there are some agents out there which are used to regrow bone.He told me about parathyroid hormone,or teriparatide,or under it's tradename Forteo by Eli&Lilly, and Human Growth Hormone.

Now,first thing first I don't live in the U.S.,so teriparatide is inaccesible for me.I could buy it,but at the moment I can't afford it unfortunately,BUT if I would be sure that it could help me I would save up.

The second thing,HGH,well, basically it's illegal. So that's a big enough problem.Second thing,it's hard to come by.Bodybuilders use it,it's enough to look at their jaws, hands, feet(think Sly Stallone),but I'm afraid I don't have "trusted sources" from which I could purchase it.

Researching osteoanabolics,I stumbled across IGF-1,which has a similar mechanism to HGH,and it's legal, and relatively cheap.Would this be a good option for me?Could it affect bone size?

Another thing I stumbled upon is strontium.I found a link which said that strontium acts as a bone thickener, and it adds bone size, but it doesn't necessarily improve density.I tried researching all these agents, the problem is that bone SIZE/THICKNESS is seldom measured, the studies are usually on bone density, because that's what's important in osteoporosis. So I would need your help guys, what would you advise me?Please take this post seriously,I am not trolling.I would really appreciate your help! Also,if you have other suggestions let me know!

Thank you very much, have a nice day!

I've worked in accident and emergency for nearly 5 years now. The meds you are considering have side effects and alter hormone levels. You need to consult your doctor and undertake treatment with your doctor. Medical decisions are not just an academic exercise. Your doctor will have to monitor you and see what develops. Physical examination, kidney function and liver function, past medical history and family history and scan results are all factors to consider and will alter the advice. Taking medical treatment into your own hands with advice from strangers is very risky and could cause more harm than good. I personally would never give medical advice to someone over the internet. This forum doesn't support this act either. I'm writing before reporting the thread in the hope that you understand the importance of seeking medical help instead of moving onto another forum where they might not be so responsible. Good luck
