On this day, we celebrate the lefties, and we appreciate their effort to adapt to the right-handed world. Obviously, the left-handed people must adapt to the simple things, such as scissors designed for right-handed people and fish knives which are only useful when held in the right hand, but there are many more examples. Did you know that left handed people must make a huge effort to read the text on a pen or pencil, as it is always upside down when they write with it? Janus Posted August 13, 2014 Share Posted August 13, 2014 (edited) Do I get some partial thanks? While I am normally right-handed doing everything else, I do write and draw with my left hand alone. This made it particularly hard when I tried to take up calligraphy. The India ink takes some time to dry and if I wrote in the normal left to right fashion my hand would smear the still wet ink, So I had to do it backwards, starting at the end of the line and working to the start. Which also meant that I had to work out exactly where to "end" the line so that the "start" would land up where it needed to be.
