On the photo attached we had to draw a mechanism for the creation written at the top of the page. My attempt is written beneath it although I'm fairly certain it is to correct. I'm comfortable with the reaction for acetal formation from ketones and aldehydes but wasn't sure how to approach this one. Any help would be very much appreciated!

Just quickly, your mechanism doesn't follow. The first protonation is perhaps in the wrong place. I would consider the double bond first. How does that last structure result in the product? I also wonder if you meant to write remove MeOH rather than remove water.
