Please, explain what you mean by a chord :)

A chord is a line segment connecting two ends of an arc.

I haven't taken geometry ... ever, but it seems to me that a diameter would qualify as a chord. Actually any line intersecting a circle in two places. Is that included in the definition of a chord?
