Land and water

Featured Replies

does anyone know the main differences in temperature between land and water and reasons behind them?

It has to do with the fact that water has a much higher specific heat capacity than land. Water (compared with land) takes a long time to heat up, and once heated up takes a long time to cool down.

Not just the specific heat matters. Water is a liquid, and it can mix.

Finally, water is also transparent, and sunlight can penetrate into the liquid. On land it is absorbed exclusively by the top layer.

m_ellini, if this is homework, please post it there. You are doing nobody a favor by just getting the answers to homework without thinking about it.
