How does obstructive jaundice lead to liver failure?

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

I can understand how liver failure can cause jaundice, but not vise versa. Please help. Thanks :)

Obstructive jaundice is a condition caused by gallstones filling the bile ducts, if I am not mistaken. This causes a build-up of bilirubin in the blood, which causes the yellow pigmentation of the skin, which is a sign. When the term "jaundice" is used, it typically refers to the sign, rather than the condition.
