For some reason i am getting some double posts from sfn and some time shifted posts some with hours between them way after i have already read them.

No, it's the e-mail notifications, i just received on for your last post in political ethics, that had to be 15 or 20 minutes ago i think. It looks like the time shifting is just 15 or 20 minutes, the ones I thought were hours were e-mails from after i logged off last night but a couple of the double posts were separated as well.

 

I just received another e-mail notification about the same thread. 3 minutes later

 

I just checked it was 45 minutes...

I've seen notifications come in at wonky times, but I just chalked that up to the vagaries of SMTP/POP and Internet routing. Duplication does seem odd, though.

 

I wonder how that's affected by moderation actions. For example, if someone posts a reply, and then one of the mods/admins deletes it, notification may have already sent it out to recipients. I also wonder if editing could play a role here -- if someone edits a post right after it goes up, maybe you get notified twice?

 

Edit (did this produce another notification?): I think I turned off most notifications because of the spam; now I just get them for Reported Posts.
