Proboscis benefits

Featured Replies

So, random thought of the day...

Is there any situation in which it would be beneficial to humans having a proboscis instead of (or additional to) our usual mouth parts?

why would we? We have hands and thumbs to grab, hold, etc. And as far as I'm aware we have tools that do anything proboscis' can do. So I can't think of a reason why there would be a reason for it to be needed

I guess for people with jaw conditions or the like who have an easier time of ingesting liquid foods anyway... but that's about it. Being able to chew gives us a wider range of options and potentially more sound diet.

I can think of several things that a human proboscis would be useful for, sadly none if them can be discussed on this forum....

On that note... we could have an elephantine proboscis without the same issues for eating :D
