Does every living thing require water to live, or some trace of liquid?

 

Yes. An example would be hydrolysis. Water is used in hydrolysis.

Water helps break apart and form biomolecules.

As such, that is why it becomes a necessary item.

Many of the biomolecules are necessary for living.
