Can anyone recommend a book that gives UV-vis absorption and /or emission spectra for common chemicals?

absolutely no idea, and you are welcome for the help!

 

um. try searching that in google, im sure some mad scientist must have published it! esp. for common chemicals, have you got any particular chemicals in mind.

 

im sure some people here, would know, some chemical anyway; or you could always experiment yourself, UV is quite easy to get, or a UV emitter anyway!
