Video of stars moving around a black hole

Featured Replies

I saw a documentry on this a few years back too - It was showing tht the star movements were evidence for Super Massive Black Holes in particular. Not sure about plain old black holes. They suggested that there was a Super Massive Black Hole at te centre of every galaxy.

Speculation / question: - If there is a SMBH at the centre of every galaxy, would it suggest their involvement in initial galaxy formation at all? i.e. do SMBH's play a part in the birth of a galaxy?

From what I have read one idea is that they just form from a normal black hole but in the central core stars are so close together than they "eat" quite a lot over time.
