Drift velocity?

Featured Replies

The drift velocity is directly proportional to the current in the conductor. If electrons have a drift velocity of 1.6*10^-4 m s^-1 for a current of 10 A in a certain conductor, what would be their velocity if the current was 5.0 A?

What is drift velocity by the way? Any help on the above will be appreciated!

You should know what drift velocity is from your textbook.. if you don't then using maths to explain the proportionality between Vd and I wouldn't help much!

Look out for the words: conductivity, current, current density, and electron mobility and you should find the answer you seek!
