Why isn't Earth attracted towards the sun?

Featured Replies

We all know that gravitational force is an attractive force.

In that case Earth should have been attracted towards the sun, isn't.Instead it revolves round the sun in a specific orbit. Why??

The earth is attracted towards the sun.

The earth is continually falling towards the sun, but it keeps missing or orbiting...

That's because the earth has a tangential velocity from the sun so ass the sun accelerates the earth towards it this just has the effect of curving the path of the earth....
