simulate in what way?

being a liquid? well mercury`s a Liquid too.

being Clear? Methanol is clear also.

can you see where you need to be a little more Specific here?

although D2O is probably the closest all rounder to H2O.

Something that if the world's water supply fails (hypothesizing) then we could use it instead of water

As mentioned there isn't a way to "simulate water" for purposes of consumption. Our cells are delicate and require specifically H2O, to the extent that even heavy water (the D2O YT mentioned) will kill a human in a few weeks if it is exclusively consumed in a pure form instead of normal water.

Even if the electron arrangements were the same, the fact of the matter is that it would be bad for us. There is just no substitute for pure good old dihydrogen monoxide. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heavy_water read "Effect on biological systems"

Hey wanna hear a really really good joke (here again, text is unable to convey my sarcasm)

but still, its amusing, though I wouldn't want to try to pick up another guy/girl with it

-Do you love water?

-Yes

-Then you love over 75% of me!

I thought he meant other compounds that you can use to make water.

this would seem to indicate Otherwise.
