My son has asked me if any of you know of any decent childrens science sites? he is 10 years old and pretty new to things scientific, so it would be much appreciated if anyone can point me to a site for this level of understanding.

thanks in advance

At that age perhaps some more hands on experience is more enriching to feed curiousity? There are these various science kits at toystores... like chemistry boxes with sets of experiements, electriconics sets, microscope sets with slides of bugs. I think I would love that stuff if I were 10. I recall that when my parents bought me felt tip pens for drawing, I found it much more fun to rip open the pens oven, and take the interior out and put in glasses of water to get extract different coloured solutions.

Maybe something like that will grow motivation to learn more later.

There are also those "space crystal" growing kits. That is was brought me into science as a child (as well as those charlie brown science 'cylopedias lol)

go to google and type in Steve Spangler Science Bill Nye Science Guy Drangon fly TV

Zoom kids These are all great science sites for kids!!!

Depending on your child's reading level, LiveScience.com might be a good place to try. I think that a ten-year old could understand most of the articles there, as they are written for a popular audience. LiveScience also sells kids' science toys. :)
