1 in 75 chance mars gets a heavenly slap on the 30th of january. should be interesting. maybe expose some underground ice?

It might even expose an underground water source...

psst. thats what under ground ice is. it won't be warm enough till the asteroid strikes for it to be liquid.

I meant liquid water, sorry if that wasn't clear.

i know you did.

and i'm telling you that it would be solid(ice) till the asteroid hit to heat it up.

I'm pretty excited about seeing this if it happens. The chanes of an impact will get higher early next month once they have a better grasp on its trajectory.

this is an absolutly amazing opportunity I appreciate you guys telling me this as I now have to reserve the telescopes at my college! Merry Christmas all!!!

If they don't know yet if it will impact mars then a close fly by could change the orbit of it so it is on track to make a collision with an other object, maybe earth in 2011.

The Martians will zap it first with their ray guns.
