Hello everybody,

 

I do electrolysis of NaBr solution with graphite electrodes.

Actually the electrical connection is done with stainless steel fastener screw on the graphite electrode plates with copper lug and electrical wire.

 

The stainless steel screw as been pulverize with-in 2 weeks of operation.

 

Is somebody have a better way to connect the electrical wire to the graphite plate ? All the parts arent immerge into the Nabr solution.

Platinum is just about unkillable, thought it is expensive.

You might want to try a brasss or copper screw; stainles steels are rather susceptible to corrosion by halides.

Also try covering the connection with petroleum jelly.

as above to some extent, petroleum jelly will work, but also is to have a barrier like a disc collar on the electrodes just Below the connections (stops bubble burst splashes).

 

my cell uses a polycarb "lid" with 3 holes in it, 2 for the electrode supports and one Vent.

I suffer No corrosion problems at all doing it this way.
