Dentistry

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I am planning on going into dentistry after the completion of my A levels (UK) and I wondered if there was any books/sites to check out which could give me a head start??

I am studying Biology and Chemistry so hopefully they'll give me the best chance of getting a place on a course

Any help would be appreciated

I strongly advise any would-be dentist to "get over" any feelings (as I'm sure you must have at least begun to do) about poking their fingers in someone's gob. I recently had a dental problem and went to about 5 different places before I found one who seemed relaxed about this. I couldn't understand how someone could have a job like that and avoid doing this (examining the "inside"). The family dentist I saw as a kid would always run his fingers around my teeth when having a look at me. No dentist nowadays seems to have the "courage" anymore. Just a comment.

lol, i guess so

Yep, I have done a month's worth of experience working in a practice and during this time i did perform some very minor jobs- only stuff a nurse would do :) and so I know that 'getting stuck in' wouldn't be a problem :D
