Esters...HELP!!!

Featured Replies

Some synthetics esters smell of Pineapple,Apple & Orange..

Question...

Research the names of the esters that produce these smells..

HELP..?!..Please :)

xx

Really, this homework question could be easily solved by looking at an organic textbook that covers esters, or, just doing a quick search on Google.

methyl pentanoate, is one of them off the top of my head. I remember this lab, don't be lazy

I gotta admit, I don`t normally like sharp answers given to a newb, but this really IS lazy, all for the Google search of: Esters +smell

you`ll get whole Lists of them!

I know because I do it myself everytime I want a new air-freshener for the lab, I choose a smell, I get the Chem name and then make it.

and no, not coz I`m Lazy, but coz I`m Cheap :P

Gave a sharp answer in hopes of the realization that

carboxilic acid name plus alcohol name equals name for ester.
