I am interested in tracing the path of elements through plants and animals by researching experiments carried out using radioisotopes (radioactive forms of elements).

basically you give it a fertilizer that contains a reasonably short lived gamma emmiter and taking a gamma photograph of it every so often. pretty simple experiment to do if you have the gamma camera and the isotope.

Good luck getting any animal experiments past an ethics committee.

Come to that, good luck getting hold of any radioisotopes.

You don't need a gamma camera; autoradiography will work quite nicely.

same thing pretty much. a photographic plate and enough aluminium to shield beta radiation would probably suffice as well.

I`de offer to send a gamma sample BUT the law wouldn`t like it and the amount you`de need to expose a plate (and then have to destroy the Plant/Animal after), is just too messy on so many different levels that`s it`s just not worth it outside a licensed facility.

i don't have a gamma camera. nor am i likely to want one. ever.
