i have come across this term many a times but was not able to find out as to what is it. the term is 'half-equation'. is it to do with ionic equation? so can any 1 tell me. thnx

half equation is normally used in electrolysis

actually we divide our electrolytic cell in two half cell reaction

and termed as anodic and cathodi compartment and their equations r termed as half cell equation

half-equation is used in electrochemistry to balance oxidation and reduction reactions.:D
