Median in another word, is midpoint. In the first diagram, the line BD touches the midpoint of line AC.

So, to I set the two values, on line AC equal to one another, to solve to get the value of X? Or what do I do? Thank you for clarifying.

By Evo's definition, the two expressions are equal to each other, yes. Honestly, I'm a bit confused by it, I can't work out what on earth (15x+42) is pointing to.

It is pointing towards...I believe the angle right above line AC...but this is a guess as well, as it is quite unclear.

You perhaps can assume that [math]15x+42[/math] is the equation for the length of line BD.
