I have a question... how much weight does it take to submerge 1 cubic foot of air in fresh water? any ideas let me know!

Are you sure, it seems to me that it'd be the difference between the wieght of the air and the wieght of the water. (practically the same I know, but principle-wise)

the same weight as a cubic foot of water funnily enough.

Less the weight of the air, of course. The bouyance is the difference between the weight of the object and the weight of the displaced water. The mass of that air will be of order 50 grams, compared to the ~35 kg of mass of the water.
