Help!

Featured Replies

I really need some help. I'm having to do a module on organic chemistry as part of my degree but I don't understand any of it as I havent done chemistry since GCSE! I'm really confused as to how to identify functional groups and how to name compounds. My lecturer has told me to read my to read my lecture notes and text books but they don't go into the basics which is what i need.

Any help would be fully appreciated as I need to pass this module in order to carry on with my course

Thanks

What specifically are you having trouble with? Functional groups are defined in your book I'm sure, and thus, all you need to do is memorize them. Naming compounds is simply following a set of IUPAC rules specified in your notes, or in your book. I'll be glad to help with specific questions :)

How far can you get into naming? What about identifying functional groups?
