.3gp to .mpg

Featured Replies

Does anyone know how to convert a .3gp file from a videophone into a .mpg file playable by windows. i tried this recently but only the audio came through and the picture didn't.

I once tried converting a video and only the audio came through, not the image... I was never quite sure why though.

Something like this:

http://www.tomdownload.com/multimedia_design/video/convert_3gp_to_avi_wmv_mpg_mpeg_to_3gp_codec.htm

would work but it costs, dunno, try downloading it and see if there's some sort of trial.

I can't find you (well, I didn't try for long to be honest!) a free .3gp to .mpg converter, but I found this:

http://www.freedownloadscenter.com/Multimedia_and_Graphics/Misc__Sound_Tools/Mobile_3GP_converter.html

which converts .mpg to .avi. The idea is that I'm sure you can then easily find a free .avi to .mpg converter, they're such common file formats it shouldn't be a problem, just try a google search for ".avi to .mpg" or some such.

i've tried both of those. The top link doesn't have a trial and the bottom link only outputs audio with no video. either that or it uses a rrare codec

What do you mean "either that or it uses a rrare codec"?

I think when I had a similar issue it was with a video I downloaded from Google Videos... IIRC all I ended up was redownloading the video and it worked, but by the time I did that I'd lost interest in it really and don't remember much!

What I'm suggesting is that it may be an issue with the .3gp that means you get no video, ie. it is NOT the file type conversion which is causing you problems.

i had no problems playing the clip on my computer bluesmudge. Quicktime does that i know. i needed to convert it so i could upload it to a website and it wouldn't accept .3gp files. only .mpg or .wmv

Anyway i have it all sorted now.
