What Is This?

Featured Replies

When I was searching for another web site using Google, I found this link: http://140.116.246.95/Squid-log/logs/ny.sanitized-access.20040418.gz

Does anybody have any idea what this huge file is? I would guess that this is a major security leak by an Internet Service Provider.

If so, should someone e-mail them and tell them that Google has found their log and listed it in their search engine?

Honestly herme3, a security leak?

I thought it was the log file of an ISP. Sometimes usernames and passwords are in the URL of a web site.

Why an ISP?

Like Russ[] did, you should have removed the ending leaving just the IP, it would have taken you to the uni site - nothing to do with an ISP.

If anyone was stupid enough to send passwords via GET instead of POST, then I'd have them shot.
I'd steal everything first though.
notice how there is a lot of pornsites in that log
I dont think phproxy logs IPs and requests but my site gets refered by search engines a lot. I thought it was pretty funny that so many looked for "phproxy" so I ran whois on several of the IPs. I expected a couple schools to show up but the majority came from other countries.

Just a few, there are too many to run whois for.

Iran (Iran make up probably 50%)

Saudi Arabia

US (schools, a bank, and a few other places)

Argentina

China

Assyria

Emirates

UK (lol, a school)

I think it's pretty cool that people in these countries use my site. The UK isn't (of course) censored but I guess the others are. Just for that I might reopen my "real" proxy server and TOR. Or maybe link to a better server.

Just a little side note, a lot of schools in the UK and from what I hear the US too censore their networks and kiddies attempt to use proxies to escape this... Mainly in my days for playing games... lol... One trick used to be to use the IP addy instead of the domain...
