Book of Synthesis

Featured Replies

Is there such a thing? A book that contains numerous syntheses. Google is a good resourse, but I would like to know if a hard bound copy exists. Thanks.

There are many books that contain lot of syntheses. Such books usually have word "practical" in title. In organic chemistry the best is probably Vogel's "Textbook of Practical Organic Chemistry". Another synthesis book is "A Course in Inorganic Preparations" by Henderson and Fernelius. Even better book is "Inorganic Laboratory Preparations" by Schlessinger.

oh i have one on my computer its pretty good, i could probly send it to you if you give some kind of contact.

I dunno how well it will work its huge but ill try. Its almost 600 pages but its really good.

and just out of curiousity, was there something perticular you were looking to synthesize?

The book is too big too send over e-mail the limit is 10 megs the book is 20 somehting. I can send it over AIM if someone has it.

You may use my FTP server for uploading it.

I have a document server with tons of books on it, uploaded by different members of different boards (not yet from SFN). If you are willing to put it on the server, then others can download the book. Of course, look at copyright issues before doing so. It may bring you in trouble if the book is copyrighted. Before I make a document visible on my FTP server, I look at the contents. Crappy and k3wly info is not accepted. I, however, cannot check the copyright issues. That is the responsibility of the person who uploads. Every document on my server obtains an ownership tag, so it is not anonymous, I can see who uploaded a document.

If you are willing to do so, contact me through PM for an account for uploading. If you upload something and you notify me, then usually it will be visible a few hours later to the whole internet community.

replying akcaper's question one, i cannot synthesize something in its simplest way...it takes me 20 minutes to think of one route...one very long route

That dint really answer my question but i see what you mean.
