Female Supreme Court Nominee

Featured Replies

Any nominee who gets the conservatives' knickers in a knot is a good candidate in my opinion!!!

I am concerned that this nominee (Harriet Miers) will

not fully support women's issue ..

What issues?...beside abortion

Miers withdraws. Never thought I would see Bush lose to his base. He may have to go with a man next time, some type of minority probably.

In case it has some further information, here is the NY Times article

http://www.nytimes.com/2005/10/27/politics/politicsspecial1/27cnd-scotus.html

"...Oct. 26 - Harriet E. Miers withdrew her nomination for the Supreme Court this morning after her selection by President Bush led to criticism from conservatives and liberals and opposition to her appointment began to grow more intense..."

I'm going to nod at the far right for this one. I have mixed feelings about it. I didn't want Miers to become a Justice (I don't feel that she's qualified), but I hate seeing Bush kowtow to the far right.

Watch the next appointment carefully. It'll tell us a lot about why Miers withdrew.
