Hello, I'm new here.

I'm wondering if anyone could help me find a technical term. It's for the action imposed on a body as it's sucked down into liquid (water) by the action of a larger body sinking beneath the surface. My enquiry has been related to the rapid sinking of a ship, and a maritime description of this, but I've been unable to find anything.. Any help for a not particularly scientific mind much appreciated!
