molekulare equations for a complex reaction

Featured Replies

hello,

i have an experiment and i want to have the equations but i not sure if i´m right.

The Experiment is: you have to give copper(II) sulfate into a test tube and add some drops of dilute ammonium hydroxide until the gelatinous light blue precipitate of copper(II) hydroxide dissolve. Observe the deep blue colour of the resulting solution, caused by the formation of tetraamminecopper(II) ion. Add the same volume of ethanol to the solution to precipitate tetraamminecopper(II) sulfate.

The first equation is:

2CuSO4+2(NH3*H2O)=[Cu2(OH)2]SO4+(NH4)2SO4

what is the second equation?????

Wrong. Copper is already Tetra aquo complex slight blue colour

First is [Cu(H2O)4]SO4 + 2 NH3 => Cu(OH)2  +  (NH4)2SO+ 2H2O

Cu(OH)+ 4 NH3 => [Cu(NH3)4(OH)2

[Cu(NH3)4](OH)+ (NH4)2SO4 => (Ethanol) [Cu(NH3)4]SO4 + 2 NH3 + 2 H2O
