Physical Chemistry

Featured Replies

Does anyone know of a good physical chemistry text book that I could purchase? I want something to supplement a physical chemistry course I will be taking in the fall.

It involves: quantum theory, atomic and molecular structure, symmetry, spectroscopy, diffraction methods, thermodynamics, kinetic theory, equilibria, introductory statistical mechanics, and reaction kinetics.

Have you got Atkins' one? That's probably the standard text.

We use PHYSICAL CHEMISTRY A MOLECULAR APPROACH by MCQUARRIE & SIMON, it pretty much covers it all for any physical chemistry course be it thermodynamics or quantum physics. It is a bit heavy though.
