Contaminated water (by organic compounds in this case) can be converted back to pure water by distillation.

Astronauts in cosmos drink their distilled urine all the time..

Actually everybody on this planet drink distilled (by the Sun and environment) water (vaporization of sea/ocean -> clouds -> rain -> rivers). It used to be part of bodies of billions of living organisms in the past.
