  1. As i understand asteroids and the like wiz past us regularly and most we don't know about. Ill get a quote from the book when i have some time to find it.
  2. The purpose of the sulphur is to hold the mixture together so the rust doesn't separate from the aluminium. You heat gently it so the sulphur melts and holds its all together. Thats what i remember reading, but i can't find it, hmm maybe i dreamt it up
  3. Hi i live in Sydney Australia, next year il be going into year 10. Im interested in chemistry mostly, not that i know that much..yet. Some of my hobbies are shooting, herpetological-ing, and mountain biking.
  4. Does anyone know the ratio for the iron oxide, aluminium and sulphur thermite? I remember reading it somewhere I thought it was here but I've searched all over and can't find it.

  6. When the iron rusts and iron oxide is formed the oxygen atom is bigger than iron and causes the metal to flake, exposing more of the surface.
