  1. looks like i have a potential study awaiting me once i get out of the air force and onto better things. like college and research.. mmmmm research.. mmmmm
  2. well if you think back to medieval times, there was natural oil leaks all over (well not all over) the place. In the marshes and such you had gas leaks and also oil's floating on the water's surface.
  3. When light travels through the eye and excites the rods and cones, which in turn excites certain nerves depending on the wavelength of the light, how is the image produced received by the brain? Are the messages taken from the optical nerve received by a singular processor in the brain? or is it broken up into many processes/areas?
  4. You know what would be the most effective strategy to improving the our Lasses-faire free market economy? Socialism.
  5. My premise does not stand on sandy ground, because it does not rely on the concept of time. However to illustrate my point i used time thus making my point false with lousy conclusions.
  6. I think you could just throw all of your maths and hard thinking away and just base the motivation of greed and the demotivator of fear on how the money will be split, and with that being said, the best split would be 1/4
  7. if you cant travel to the past, then how could we travel to the future? IE. you start at point A in time 100 you travel to Point B at time 110 but time 110 has already passed and now its 111,112,113. therefore you traveled into the future from Point A's perspective but the past from Point B's perspective.
  8. Thus your statement actually proves my point. If he were to bring technology that has been discovered from the future "back" to us then we would discover it sooner. basically if we could travel to the past then we could in theory poses every technology available to us for the entire period of time that time travel is available.
  9. I am going to take this time to pounce. IMO You cannot travel into the future, or the past for that matter, because our universe does not operate on our idea of time. Our idea of time is just that it is our IDEA, it is flawed and has no real substance. And here is where i input a set of Logical Paradox: If you one day you could travel into the future then later you could travel to the past. If you can travel into the past then you could: A) screw with stuff, and B) travel to the Current(2010) present and give all the wonderful technological advances that the human race has achieved. Now, we have had no crazy people from the future coming back with their time traveling device, nor have we experienced any wild and crazy inventions from some unimaginable future. End logical paradox set. IMO, if we were to eventually learn how to travel into the future it WOULD NOT be future as a function of time, it would be due to a multiverse or some similar concept.
  10. You should check the Firmware. Most of the time firmware updates are automatic and maybe the firmware has a bug or something of the sort. also recently many ISP's have been sending interrupt packets for P2P users, to interrupt their traffic. If you are doing something similar to that like FTP they might be doing the same thing to you to interrupt the connection. I was using P2P a little while ago and had the packet interrupt my connections multiple times. actually now, my internet is running MUCH slower. maybe they blacklisted my IP and have lowered the cap on my network. If you want to check your network, you could manually change around your IP addresses on the computers on the lan. If the Firmware is unsure of 2 IPs and a collision occurs that will add to any latency issues already. IE xxx.xxx.xxx.1 and xxx.xxx.xxx.2 are recognized as identical. not that they should but if there is a bug... 11. Transcranial_magnetic_stimulation, is pretty interesting. According to the wiki article they are currently using it in to stimulate or otherwise affect the brain and see its response. ie passing the stimulation over the motor areas of the brain and seeing how the muscles react. IMO they should stop studying the brain with it, because it is basically useless too, and try its affects on the nerves below a point where one is paralyzed. if it were to stimulate the nerves with the correct signal, would the muscles react accordingly. yes they should because all nerves really are are conduits (akin to wires) for signal to pass. Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation is at best a diagnostic tool. However it does show the potential to stimulate nerves via an external medium to have a proposed/known effect. Merged post follows: Consecutive posts merged That is quite the interesting device, I have looked at it once before. It appears that the device works by transmitting sound frequencies through electrodes to the inner ear area, not directly to the nerves themselves. with out current technology that is probably the better way to do it. manly i say this because if were were to match 1 electrode to 1 hair/nerve pair we would defiantly fill up our ear with electrodes. What i am talking about is stimulating the nerves directly, so there is no hearing loss, and all sound is "crystal" clear. The main reason why i even thought of this is because while i do my job on a plane, it is very hard to hear other people talking on the various headsets we use. if we were to just use an implant such as this, but connected directly to the nerves we would not have any sort of hearing issues or volume issues that we see aboard aircraft. Again, personally i would like to use this and my eye implant . it just seems like such a good idea. and it appears that it is because it is already being used/researched. Merged post follows: Consecutive posts mergedi really wish i was in college, so i could research this stuff in a lab myself. /sigh
  12. would it then be possible to inject certian sounds by following the firing patterns? aka, if you were to recieve like comms from something for a forward deployed unit, could some sort of device properly translate the comms into the firing patterns and inject/stimulate that area of the nerves via implant?
  13. The nerve is specialized because it is only passing 1 signal, that is the signal being generated by the hair, to be passed to the brain.
  14. so it would appear that each frequency that we can here is hardwired to the brain via a specialized nerve?
  15. My question stems from a previous question that i had about how the light signal is interpreted by the brain through the optic nerve. How does the Brain process sound? is it in a similar fashion that the optic nerve is? that is does a nerve bundle or thread correspond to a frequency/color?
  16. If it where ID, then how come i don't have 4 arms? or are able to see ultraviolet light, (the membrane in front of the pupil doesn't let in the light, even though we can see it.) How come we have not developed wings? I know i have thought of all of these, and i also know that it has been thought of before. If the Human Brain had AN impact then the above would be possible.
  17. the spinning motion of the bullet allows for it to follow a straighter path through the non-laminar air medium. Basically it reduces physical resistance (air-resistance) to the bullet.
  18. from my rudimentary chemistry knowledge, it seems possible that those elements could in fact be used in a particular way that would allow for efficiency of a solar cell.
  19. Hmm, i wonder. Can you put a spin on a Electromagnetic wave similar to a bullet coming out of a gun?
  20. Sure, how is this for precise. I want to see the detailed schematics of an actual working thruster, along with a complete description of each individual part and what it does itself and how it interacts with the system. Along with that i would like to take a look at the equations associated with it and view the theory on how it works. + detail.
  21. i just thought of this, but a laser bounces off a mirrored surface pretty well.. maybe if you were to align mirrors in a circular rotating pattern, you might be able to spin the beam similar to a bullet coming out of a gun.. but still lasers are not the topic at hand.
  22. Yes, photons are chargeless, but they may be affected by other particles the other particles affected by magnetic fields. So it is possible that spiralling could be accomplished through indirect means.
