  1. Okay, great it's worked for you, but that's not necessarily a causation. Seeing as you're computer savvy so probably browse the web quite safely anyway. Very similar scenarios- 'browsing the web daily and need protection when security's compromised', basically put. The test ratings have meaning and can't just be thrown to one side really. It's a possibility that the reason why you never hear people reporting infections while using MSE is that it doesn't pick them up. I think we're both set on our differing opinions of MSE so I'll leave it at that. I agree with you when it comes to AVG though.
  2. Ah I see your point, although I didn't claim that any one is the best- I just pointed out that MSE has low effectiveness, from past experience and lots of ratings. Even teamed with other programs it doesn't really play a valued role. I've had Malwarebytes for years, for free. Downloaded from the official website.
  3. Was watching this last night: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWn1vxuV9IQ&feature=autoplay&list=PLDFC62456AB3673C3&playnext=5 It has information on anti-ageing gene work. It's kind of speculation, based on potential future science. Numbers 1-7 makes up the documentary, and it's a good watch. It's human evolution throughout time, by the BBC I think.
  4. It doesn't detect or deal with half as many threats as Malwarebytes does xD.
  5. I somehow got caught out in a phishing scam recently, lost access to my Facebook. Not that it mattered, I don't use it much and hate it, and it took less that 5 minutes to get back. Sounds like you have a trojan horse, my friend; either Orifice or Netbus. I have no idea how to get rid of it for certain, only on windows 98 . But at least now you probably know what you're dealing with and can research it (there's stuff everywhere online about it). Just don't ironically pick one up when looking to fix it by visiting dodgy sites and downloading everything. Do not get Windows Security Essentials Its only function is to welcome viruses as they stroll on in. Consider paying for decent security protection, or get Malwarebytes, for free. Malwarebytes always does a good job and detects malicious items bar none. Helpful Link: http://curiosity.dis...mputer-remotely I'd be interested to know how you traced the hacker. I can trace malicious emails back to their sources, and they are forever coming from China, sometimes California, USA. Not surprising seeing as hackers are being trained in their masses in China.
  6. Disgusting. A problem belonging to lack of government regulations in the right areas. No different to the Scientology cult behaviours in the US by the looks of it.
  7. I liked the part where he tore them all a new one.
  8. I came across an article (as usual) by the BBC years ago: http://www.guardian....ts-of-the-dying This is the guardian and it's more recently posted. But it's a survey taken by old people on their death beds about their most common regrets in life; my philosophy has been, in part, to see what they regretted in life and not end up with the same regrets myself whenever it is I die. Number 1 in that article is the most common, and most important in my opinion. Edit: number 1 is the point Ecoli is making as it just so happens.
  9. You're... 14 years old... and thinking about Uni. Damn. Your school will introduce the process to you at the appropriate time, and then you can apply to be an overseas student. Not sure how Greece's education system operates, but student loans should be available (they'll sort out your financial concerns... kind of). Just concentrate on getting your grades, and don't worry too much about that stuff for a few years. Keep your options open.

    Wow.

I have no idea how this guy struggles to understand the rules, but it's funny as hell:
  11. Ahahaha. This picture got me: http://www.gizmag.co...3582/pictures#4 These things could pass off as toys at airport security, I'm sure. Luckily, it's probably not enough to do significant damage. I imagine even if a terrorist shot me with this, I still wouldn't be able to do much other than laugh. Edit: Until I died... then I'd stop laughing.
  12. Certainly been a good year for GBR team and it's made it enjoyable to watch... I was worried towards the beginning of the Olympics when we weren't getting many golds at all. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-19135794 Funding for sports may be increased yet. I think that we still have a shot at doing well in four years to come; though it will be difficult to trump the 2012 Olympic results. We definitely won't ever see these results again: http://www.london201...1908/index.html
  13. You could try Baking Soda. It's cheap and effective at cleaning in most cases.
  14. Show us what you think you might have to do (your working out). We can't just give you the answer. What's the Sy?
  15. Perhaps we can do something along the lines of what the 'Immortal' Jellyfish does. Return to our younger selves, then grow up again, and repeat. http://en.wikipedia....opsis_nutricula Edit: Obviously unlikely. But it's the closest thing we have to being immortal on this planet.
  16. If one should consider her/himself as an intellectual person, they might consider looking at why their own theory is wrong. Not through fear, but good measure... Remember that acceleration is: So acceleration isn't constant. If delta velocity is variable, and time interval is also a variable and they are both components of acceleration- acceleration is not constant.
  17. The rationale behind the murder depends on whose perspective we're reviewing. The racist murderer's rationale was his own, and he took it upon himself to murder these people, with his own 'reasons' that he saw as being valid. If, however, you ask someone who isn't a racist, the rationale won't fit. They will argue that the rationale for the murder was unfair, prejudice, cold-blooded, didn't serve a lawful purpose etc. etc. I agree with Greg H. As long as we're talking specifically about 'murder', any rationale given will be invalid- at least in terms of the law- because the law has been broken. Killing can have rationale, on the other hand- in the eyes of the law. My short answer: There will never be a universally accepted rationale for killing.
  18. Did you leave the Fox News homepage there as an example of brain washing?
  19. Fat molecules are too big to get through the barriers to the blood stream. Other chemicals in the oil might. Just don't do what's happening a lot in Scotland. Don't use cooking oil to help you get a sun tan and end up with skin cancer instead.

    Ear Infection Pain

I think I'm just prone to it genetically. My mum said she always got them after swimming, so it's quite possible I've inherited a very bad auditory/Eustachian tube. This is my second or third time in my entire life having it, so it's not too bad. I'm investing in some waterproof ear plugs tomorrow and I've made some ear drops- a simple mixture of sodium bicarbonate with water- which will help to prevent future infections; as well as drying off more thoroughly. If the above fails then I will go to my doctor and see what's going on.

    Ear Infection Pain

So that's why. I remember saying to someone that it works every time, but they didn't believe me because viruses cause sore throats. I'm inserting it in the ear because the infection is caused by bacteria. High salinity can dehydrate them, inhibit replication and possibly cause cell-lysis. I'm also using some alcohol too now... I'm determined to get rid of this infection. Good point, I definitely will be. For anyone else who might read this, and who cares... really dry your ears after swimming too. Bacteria grows when your ears aren't properly dried, after swimming. Proliferation doesn't happen so much whilst swimming from what I've read.

    Ear Infection Pain

I'll hold onto that site. I would usually go to the doctor to get antibiotics but I would have to wait until Monday to get an appointment at the earliest and I can just kill the bacteria with household equipment. I'm now using very salty water to finish off the infection. Despite sore throats being caused by viruses, rinsing my mouth with high salinity water tends to get rid of my sore throat with 2 days maximum. It's underestimated as a drug.
  23. So I'm lying with my head sideways- making this a challenge to write- because I'm balancing several drops of vinegar (4.5% acetic acid) in my ear canal. lol. An ear infection has come to visit, again, and it hurts like a... This happened about 8-9 hours after going swimming. Out of curiosity, what about microbial proliferation in the ear canal causes so much pain? I suspected these things: immune response, i.e. histamine, swelling and so on; anaerobic respiration, causing lactic acid to build up; or tissue cell damage due to bacteria embedding itself underneath and multiplying. The problem is I have no idea if it is any of those above, or something else, but I'm curious. (As a side topic: can this leave long term damage to the ear drum?) Thanks in advance for replies.
  24. This is news to me too, and very interesting indeed. I'll look into this in some depth; I'm sure it will be used for many, many things if it is found to be stable enough, so fingers crossed. Thanks for passing this information on.
