  1. After all that I needed some soothing music - My wife, when a girl, sang in a pub with Acker Bilk in a village near both their homes - The Ring 'o Bells in Hinton Blewitt. Xittenn, Perhaps you don't mind some soothing music sometimes?
  2. Merci - or perhaps mercy!!! Just wondering - are you French-Canadian?
  3. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=7jzx664u5DA Oh no, oh no, oh no! http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=AUXmj3Fl7x0
  4. I'm going to give it a rest before I start pulling my hair out. Lucky to have hair to pull out at my age - lol! I bet I'm doing something simple incorrectly. This is all I'm doing:- Get my video so it plays in another window. Copy the URL. Come back to Scienceforums. Press "Reply", or "Fast reply" Paste the URL (which comes out full length) Press "Add reply". Go to "View new content" and select my post. When I see my post I have the shorter URL and no automatic load. Can you spot my mistake?? It seems that Scienceforums itself is shortening my URL! If I press"Edit" and fill in the missing parts of the URL that doesn't help.
  5. Sorry - still having trouble getting videos to play! Will try something else! . ► 2:51 www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q7jZeXvpyZQ
  6. Perhaps my age will allow me to say this in a Grandfatherly way without it being misunderstood:- Although I obviously don't know you, I sense that any man who can forge a link with you on an emotional level will be very fortunate.
  7. I did read up a bit about dubstep - but it's not really to my taste. I guess musically I'm a dinosaur stuck in the'50's and'60's. Now you are making me feel old. I could embarrass my grandchildren just by going into a club or disco with them. As for taking my clothes off - better not go there!
  8. I just don't know why "copy" gives shortened URL's. I have no idea if it is a limitation of Chrome. Anyway thanks again for your help. Anyone out there know why my URLs have bits missing?
  9. And I was going to complement you on yours as you seem to like some 1960's music - but what's this Dubstep for goodness sake!
  10. Had it working a moment ago. Used edit to add some words of thanks and then Bang! Now I can add a new reply I may be ok - I'll give it a try Thanks for advice. I don't know why, but my "copy" omits some of the URL. Brownie point awarded!
  11. http://www.youtube.c...h?v=ZaSKICzeTaE Following all the advice given, but I still can't get a youtube video entered except as just the URL (as above). Help!
  12. jre Could do with some more advice! Is the URL what appears in the address bar (e.g. http://www.youtube.c...h?v=ZaSKICzeTaE )? If not, where do I find it? Do I use the "fast reply" or the "Add reply button"? If I have pressed the "edit" button, will I have to wait until someone else posts so that what I am trying to do doesn't merge with what I have done before? Anything else I should know? Thanks Xittenn for trying to help a confused "old chap", your help is appreciated.
  13. No law against it - lol. Actually he isn't the main performer of the song - but the line "What would Jimmy Buffett do" is as well known as the song itself by Alan Jackson. If you google "What will Jimmy Buffett do" (including inverted commas) you will be taken there. You quite possibly have no idea who Alan Jackson is. Actually it's the only Country and Western song I like - because it reminds me of friday lunchtimes when I was working! This is one of my favourite love songs:- http://www.youtube.c...h?v=ZaSKICzeTaE Please anybody - how do I get Youtube videos on the post? I only know how to set links.
  14. Was it a Roman Catholic Church then?
  15. I think some of you very serious career minded people might like to wind down a bit! If you don't know already you will learn what Jimmy Buffett would do! http://www.metacafe....ial_music_vide/
  16. Which, for a large part of the time at least in my experience, is probably to lie! lol
  17. An important step in assessing a child's development is when they tell a lie which is to their advantage. A child that doesn't do that at around age 3 probably has development problems. It seems to me that someone who never lies but always tells the truth might find him/herself in difficulties at times. e.g. "Does my bum look big in this?". http://www.scholastic.com/resources/article/the-truth-about-lying
  18. This one is better read aloud.(especially the last 7 words) The Lord of the Manor was soaking in his bath when he fancied a drink. He rang for his butler, called Wardle, and said " Fetch me a large scotch Wardle". Just as Wardle was mid way between the bath and the door the Lord of the Manor farted quite vigorously which erupted as a burst of bubbles coming to the surface of his bath water. Wardle hesitated for a moment before continuing on his errand. A few minutes later Wardle returned with a large scotch in one hand and a hot water bottle in the other. He offered these to the Lord who looked surprised and said "Why have you brought me a hot water bottle?" Wardle replied " My Lord, as I left I distinctly heard you say "And what about a water bottle Wardle?""
