  1. i would like to remind you that you are on "science forums and debate". you should expect this kind of thing... (and there is a right answer... as i have clearly explained above. "spherical" is not a perception, it can also be verified that the ball is blue, how is it a matter of perception?)

  3. if we say something IS blue were saying that it has properties that cause it to reflect light of a certain frequency that we see as blue. that doesnt change, it still reflects that frequency of light. thats like saying its not blue because the aliens would use a different word for it.

  5. yes, it is more blue than it is spherical. "blue" covers a fairly wide variety of hues, so thats not an exact value. if it looks blue, it meets the exact definition of "blue". however, humans do not have the technology to create perfectly spherical things, "spherical" is a precisely, mathematically, defined thing, which humans are incapable of creating, therefore the ball is not spherical, just close, whereas it IS blue. (this is going by my personal definitions of the two words, the dictionary says spherical is a. Having the shape of a sphere; globular. or b Having a shape *approximating* that of a sphere. i think the dictionary is full of hooey... but maybe there is a reason no one hires me to make dictionaries...)

  7. 1. July, August, September, October, November 2. childrens feet are small, adults feet are large. 3. why would the sword say World War I before the second war had happened? (what was it called? The Great War or something?)
  8. its not random. it is a number the computer gets based slightly on what its clock says when you ask it. the algorithm is complex enough that you wont be able to find the pattern, but the pattern is still there. as for all the gory details in between, i have no idea what it does to get the number, i just know that it isnt actually random.
  9. its supposed to go from hot to cold by subracting a letter.
  10. yeah... i dont know if i buy the whole conditioning idea. freshman year in highschool i had classes starting at 7 and it took me about 45 minutes to get to school. i had to get up at like 5:30 and i never got used to it. i hated it every day.
  11. i did say it was watered down. thank you for explaining.
  12. im sorry, did you want to explain that? instead of just a blanket statement how about you explain what part of that statement makes it wrong? is it because when you hear "weeded out" you think of something intentionally removing them? is it because you dont believe in evolution? or do you think my watered down version of evolution is incorrect?
  13. i said they are "WEEDED OUT if they possess an attribute that makes them LESS likely to survive and reproduce". as in they die off if they have a disadvantage. and im not worried about humans dieing off, i just think that we are stopping ourselves from progressing beyond our current state. evolution in action... yes, we evolved with better brains, but if we use that brain to keep the weaker members of our society alive then we force those weaknesses to remain in our genepool.
  14. According to evolutionary theory, individuals in a society are weeded out if they possess an atribute that makes them less likely to survive and reproduce. When we (humans) use medicine, I believe we are weakening the human race by stopping evolution from taking place. If we didnt use medicine then people with inhibiting conditions would gradually die out. if we didnt make glasses then we wouldnt have very many people with really bad eyes because if you cant see you cant get by in our daily world. is the human race permenantly halting its own progress? are we forcing ourselves to remain imperfect forever? will other races eventually overcome us since we are the only ones who use medicine? any thoughts/opinions/insights welcome.
  15. yeah, you get like 100 mB of space now too.
  16. i think your nuts... but is there a way i can start a poll at the top of this?
  17. they would be the same 3 squirrels. as in squirrel x * 3 = 3 of squirrel x. as for color, that would depend on the color of the squirrel in question. they also come in black by the way, which caused my bother to name that variety something rather offensive (hint: storks also come in this variety). not another rodent because we didnt say rodent * 3, we said squirrel * 3. if we said rat * 3 then it would be 3 rats. oh, and 0 times infinity still equals 0.
  18. I dont know if this is in the right place, but it seemed about right. why are some people nighttime people and others are morning people? i have a friend who goes to bed at 9pm and gets up at 5 am so he can run before school. if it were up to me i would rather take that run at 11 pm just so that i didnt have to get up that early in the morning. what causes that? why do some people prefer to get up late and stay up late while others like to get up early? also, do we know which is more common?
