  1. Doesn't that require you to define [math]a_0[/math] in advance?
  2. You got a shiver running down my spine there for a second. To my knowledge, you call one a "unit", but they probably say that on Wolfram, so there's really no point in me saying so. Ah well... Cheers, Gabe
  3. Well, there isn't exactly anything like that (by the way, it's called looping) in math that I know of. The closest one can get (to my limited knowledge) is with the Product or Sum. But then again, there may be other methods I'm not aware of. Quite frankly, I'm curious myself, I've often wondered about this. Cheers, Gabe
  4. True enough, although it's still not as generic as I'd like it to be But alas, I guess you can never live up to a perfectionists dream, and a perfectionist I am. Thanks to everyone for helping me sort this subject out. Cheers, Gabe
  5. Close. More like "Kolikaty in line are you?" or "Kolikaty prime number is five?" It's difficult and not entirely accurate to combine two languages, but this is as close as one can get.
  6. Well as I said earlier, I'm not a physicist, and physics isn't exactly my strong area. My posts are based on my deductions, and what little I picked up about physics in my short life time. But thanks for the link, it's an interesting read As for the color part, color is light. So you're basically asking the same question all over again.
  7. That depends on how you imagine this fictional Universe. If that Universe were to be exactly the same as ours, except for the speed of light, then that couldn't be; nothing can go faster than light. Information travels at the speed of light. If something moved faster, it'd be going backward in time. Meaning that if electrons moved at their "standard" speeds, whenever we though about something we'd essentially be traveling backwards in time Cheers, Gabe
  8. The word, or words, I'm looking for shouldn't depend on the amount of knowledge one has at the time one asks the question. Nor should it matter if it were a series of questions. I don't think one requires knowledge of the answer to ask an exact question. For example, the question "How are you" implies no knowledge of the answer by itself, yet is as exact as it will ever be. Yes, it can also be used rhetorically, but that doesn't make it more precise. I'm a bilingual person; I speak both Czech and English fluently. In the Czech language, there is a specific word you use when you ask for a position in a sequence, namely "kolikátý". If I could make up words in English, it would be something like "How manyth", or something along those lines. What I'm asking is if there is an equivalent English word. Cheers, Gabe
  9. Hey all, Here's one for you English teachers. While it's not exactly science, I couldn't think of a better place to post this. This is probably been asked over and over, but what is the correct way of asking a question to which the answer would be, for example, "He was third", or "I'm fifth in line", or "Five is the third Prime Number". I know one can ask something like "What position does *something* occupy in the sequence of *something*" but isn't there another way? Cheers, Gabe
  10. Forgot about that thanks for the refresher
  11. Well, the electrons in our brains will be limited to 10 m/s, which is about 30 000 000x slower than now. Logically, this means that our thinking will be slowed down. But just imagine; a simple calculation that would take you one second in this Universe, such as 16*2, would take you almost a year in that Universe. Relative to our Universe. I wonder if time would actually slow down though. I can think of some reasons why it could, and some why it shouldn't. Anybody got any ideas? Cheers, Shadow
  12. Why? Not to sound aggressive, but how does the speed of light change distance? The distance should still be the same, just the length of time it would take for one to cross it would, from the perspective of our Universe, be 30 000 000x longer (I think).
  13. I didn't finish reading, so I can't comment on the rest and I'm short on time, but I can already see what I perceive to be an error: I made the same mistake; we don't know that its center is on AC. In fact, I believe it isn't. I'll post my solution to the problem once I have more time, sorry for not including it in my first post. Cheers, Gabe EDIT: Oh shoot, I forgot to include a very important part of the problem; the table is a circle with a diameter of 0.6
  14. Well, I'm not much of a physicist, but I can tell you two things: a) in this case the ">" part is rubbish, or at least I'm pretty sure, and b) the universe would be a LOT slower. But this is an interesting question; I guess the human race wouldn't see a difference, since the electrons in our brains would be slowed down considerably, from which I deduce that so would our perception of time. But that's just a 16 year old's guess )
  15. Hey all, I was browsing through our math book the other day, and I came upon an interesting question. Say you have a table with a diameter of 0.6m, and on that table a square meter-by-meter tablecloth. One corner of the tablecloth is hanging over by half a meter, and another by 0.3 meters. By how much are the other corners hanging over? I came up with 0.5 and 0.3 meters, but I'm not sure I'm right. Can anyone verify? Thanks in advance, Gabe
  16. Euler is a great place to start if you like math. However, be prepared for the fact that further on there are some really hard ones Cheers, Gabe
  17. How about this? 6. 12243 64860 72849 6... How is 4. coming along? Any luck? That's a pretty tough one, I admit. Cheers, Gabe
  18. Here's another one, however this one is with letters: 5. Q, A, Z, W, S... Just to have it written down, numbers 4. and 5. have yet to be solved...so good luck, you won't be needing it ) Cheers, Gabe
  19. Well put, and you're right of course, that's the way I started, I just didn't consider the jump that big...my bad ;-) So, that would be: C: Beej's Guide to C Programming - Best one I know. C++: Learn C++ - along with a forum where people will be more than glad to help - Also the best one I know.
  20. If ou want to program in general, learn C++ and move up to Java. Link to the first, I STRONGLY reccomend: http://www.lerncpp.com/ Cheers, Gabe
  21. Nice, although not surprised you got them ) Have a look at that last one... Cheers, Gabe
  22. Hi all, Just a few primitive teasers to occupy your mind with. Find a way to generate these sequences: 1. 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64... 2. 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13... 3. 3, 1, 4, 1, 5, 9, 2, 6... And one that's a little harder: 4. 1, 2, 2, 3, 4, 3, 5, 4, 6, 7, 5, 3... Enjoy, Gabe
  23. Shadow

    c++

What is this program supposed to do?
  24. Well yes, that was exactly what I was thinking I'm thinking more and more that know what O and o is would help me a lot. But I thank all of you for your help ) Cheers, Gabe
