  1. O.K. but the field is still in the same direction, so what changes is only the flux, right ? So, say, in an infinite coil it wouldn't move when it's already in, despite the H field ?
  2. So, it's a matter of increasing magnetic flux ?
  3. So, what's the difference ? A permanent magnet would attract that metal piece, but the coil's field wouldn't ? thanx
  4. I'm sorry... I'm sorry... It just amuses me everytime I read such things all over again, no offense really. Quote: "This is rather as if you imagine a puddle waking up one morning and thinking, ‘This is an interesting world I find myself in—an interesting hole I find myself in—fits me rather neatly, doesn’t it? In fact it fits me staggeringly well, must have been made to have me in it!’ This is such a powerful idea that as the sun rises in the sky and the air heats up and as, gradually, the puddle gets smaller and smaller, it’s still frantically hanging on to the notion that everything’s going to be alright, because this world was meant to have him in it, was built to have him in it; so the moment he disappears catches him rather by surprise." Douglas Adams Try it, it's superb : http://www.biota.org/people/douglasadams/
  5. What do you mean ? As I see it here, if I put a metal piece on a surface and put a high current coil around it - I understand that the piece will go flying through and out of the coil along the field lines ?

    Power Source

Thanks - that's short and to the point Also, I found this site if someone's intrested: http://www.lambda-emi.com/product_html/esspower.htm
  7. thank you YT2095. Intresting, so how come there are no coil-guns out there and many railguns ? How would you go about calculating the energy of the magnetic flux and how it's transferred to an accelerating feorromagnet piece ? thank you.
  8. Hi, a Q: if I put a ferromagnetic material inside a coil with current and magnetic field, will the material be accelerated along the coil - like it would be attracted to a magnet pole ? thank you
  9. Hi, a Q: Is it technicly possible to build a power source, or to use a transformer to get 1,000 Amps per 0.01 Ohm of internal resistance ? (Or near that value - in terms of power, 10 kW in this case.) Thank you
