  8. Actually they do contain a small quantity RP after doing some research on the net before I actually scouted for those matches
  9. Sorry my bad..I actually did not buy the impure RP as a stand-alone substance..but rather "harvested" it from those strike-anywhere matches with RP in it..
  10. Yes ..red P I've gotten from a local store although it is not in high concentrations.. I guess I shouldn't mess around with such stuffs after all... (My knowledge of chemistry is quite limited as I'm only a student who is taking the GCSE O levels this year..)

  12. But I've tried combusting Red P and recrystallized sucrose mix and it can burn pretty well.. And that was done in a pyrex test tube..So I'm not sure whether Red P is indeed an oxidiser?
  13. i cant seem to get my hands on even a single drop of KNO3 and I am dying to make a rocket propellant... So I was wondering if using Red P instead of KNO3 in the sugar fuel mix ...can it possibly work?

Hey guys, need some help here...I'm going for a local science fair and I am going to build a small scale fuel cell..Hydrogen and Oxygen supply is no problem...The real problems here I have i regarding the working mechanism of a model working fuel cell.. So can anyone here shed some light and teach me how to? If it is too hard?how about microbial fuel cells?
  15. So if lets say I make this equation of the reaction between KNO3 and Glucose, C6H12O6 : 12KNO3 + C6H12O6 = 6 CO2 + 6 H2O + 12 KNO2 (Am I right, please correct me)?
  16. I have been confused with this for a very long time and still havent found an answer to it...does the KNO3 make it easier for the sugar to burn ? I am not very sure... So can the pros here help me out?Thanks.. Another thing is that whether can I find another easily obtainable chemical in place of the KNO3? This is because KNO3 is very hard to get in my country(Singapore).. Yes there are alot of pharmacies here, but none of them sell chemicals at all...
  17. Then what about butane or the lighter fliud? I amthinking of spraying a few sprays into a rocket body and then ignite it using a electronic igniter. My question is whether can the rocket go up?Or will it just cause a meltdown of the body or even an explosion?
  18. I think it has been done by NASA researchers...they use pure O2 to burn the paraffin very fast...but in our normal world, isit possible to do that?

  20. Hi guys, I was just wondering whether if I can use ordinary paraffin wax to burn and create thrust? Thts because I am looking for an alternate method to making rocket fuel.. KNO3 I cant find it anywhere in my country(Singapore).. So any clues?
