  1. I'm doing the same thing too! But not while I'm walking' date=' I usually just sit around and think..or just stare into space...then when i notice someone coming my way...i sniff. Then i straighten myself up..or sit straight...or change my position at a quick instant...touch my nose, squeeze it perhaps...hold my neck...

    [/quote']

Touching your nose or squeezing it is normally a sign that a person is lying, i'm not quite sure how this works in this example though, it can also occur when negative thoughts enter your mind, which is more likly the case, meaning if someone you liked walked past you wouldn't do it.

Scratching the neck is normally a sign of disapproval which could also occur if you don't like the person or just there appearance.

Holding or rubbing your neck is also a negative sign, which i believe is where the phrase "pain in the neck" comes from.

I'm not to sure about breathing in though, however in poker if you get dealt a bad hand you tend to breathe in as a subconscious signal, so it might be another negative action towards them.

  2. Ultralord.

For energy' date=' remeber that there are ways that humans obtain power from heat. eg. a thermocouple. There is no reason why a molecule could not exist that acts like chlorophyll, except using heat to generate the current that drives organic synthesis.[/quote']

They already do on volcanic vents on the ocean floor, as there is no light source there.

  3. Trouble with maize is that it kicks the stuffing out of the land and thus you have to use a lot of fertilizer. Fertilizer that you need oil to produce. As a major transportation fuel it just won't cut it in North America or Europe. Works in Brazil because the got a vast jungle to burn (for a while.)

They get it in brazil by fermenting sugar cane what does it have to do with burning jungle, most of the jungle is burned so cattle ranches can be put on it so the western world can get cheap (shitty) burgers.

  4. For the poll question i put 3-5 years as i believe some kind of ethanol based fuel will be avalible for cars in the US by that time, it is already avalible in brazil and other countries, however for the question he asks in his post the answer is never as the US will always use something else.

  5. I don't think your that alond here Cloud' date=' atleast theres me here doing GCSE's! I'm also hoping for AA science, which I think is quite achievable - if only I could get the biology right! How come you are doing your modules this late on?

I have my first two exams next week, English Lit (EEK!!) and RS.[/quote']

I got AA in GCSE science it was so easy, i'm doing AS exams this summer they seem a bit harder.

  6. It would stretch after a period like any skin cells do, also as they get older they will lose there elasticity, however i'm not sure if alot of sex would be enough to cause this to a great extent.

I would think that child birth would be the main reason for it occuring.

  7. I can probally do about 30-40 in a minute if i was pushed, i prefer to do dumbells though lift about 700 KG per arm every morning, they are pretty light but they work from strenth rather than bulk muscle, i really need a heavier set, but it is getting round to buying them that is the problem and i haven't get anywhere to put them either. :-(

  8. Once again our simple views of our own supremacy are defeated!

I have often believed we were closer to animals than we were made our selves out to be' date=' but never had enough information on the matter!

They can plan, I wonder what else they can do. I'll do some reasearch and come back.[/quote']

They can use tools for tasks as well, which we once thought only humans could do, as there is a video of a primate (can't remember which species) using a stick to check the depth of a stream before going into it, there are most likely many other examples of this as well.

  9. I didn't sleep for 9 days about 3 years ago. There was this online game I played and they reset the scores and I really wanted to be in first. After 40 hours of playing' date=' I got in first and wanted to stay in first. I only took little breaks but I never slept.

I've heard it's hard to stay up but what I experienced was very different. It was hard at first but then it got easier. It was interesting how the hardest sleepy hits would always come around the sametime every day. 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. was when the sleepyness hit hard, after I got past that time of the day, I was fine. My eyes were sore but my body wasnt getting any weaker, it was just running on low gas the whole time. What im saying is the 9th day was no harder to stay awake then the 3rd day was. As a matter of fact, making it to day 2 was harder then making it to day 4 5 6 7 8 and 9. I'm sure without all the caffeine and excitement from the game, it would of been a harder task but I kept going.

The only thing that really happened to me is my center of balance would shift on me every now and then when walking around. I slept for 16 hours when I finally did go to sleep. When I woke up I wasnt even on the top 100 list in the game anymore. I stayed up for another 30-40 hours trying to get back on it before I went to sleep again.

Nowadays I have trouble making it past the 24 hour mark. Certain things can happen though to charge you up and make it easier. If you sit still watching tv trying to stay awake, your in for alittle trouble. My family doesnt believe me, they think that's impossible. I think you just need the right stimulation, my body never shut down on me or anything like that, I was just running on low the entire time.[/quote']

You realise the top 100 players or more on most gaming tables have more than one player on the account and the account is played perminatly.

The longest i have stayed awake is about 36 hours, i feel really ill if i don't sleep so i tend not to try it for to long.

  10. Let me explain this. A video game cartridge is simply a repackaged Flash memory (or some other' date=' similar storage device) card stuck in a plastic case. If I was to make a Flash stick out of titanium, it would be stronger than any cartridge you could ever find. And some Flash sticks [i']do[/i] come in metal cases with rubber shock protectors. If you want protection, find one of those.

Indeed, that is what i was think when he made this topic, cartiridges were good at there time as they could hold enough data for the game and also were robust so if they were dropped or hit as kids do from time to time they would be find.

But since the time they were used they have never been develop and upgraded and are out of date, also flash sticks hold alot more data on them and as you say can be protected just as well, it just most people would rather have something that is light and small rather than something that can take being hit with a hammer.

I have a flash stick that is rubber coated, and can take quite a bit of a battering anything a normal day can throw at it, also it is water proof as i found out when i left it in one of my pockets when i washed them.
