  1. How many of you know what a refsmmat is (before seeing it here or in my sig)? Post your ideas on what it is here! I'll tell you what it is after seeing you moan over it for a while. Prizes for getting it right is $500!*

    *$500 not included

  2. So if you are walking outside in a place where they do that, and you happen to touch an insulated object (building of some type) then you would be electrocuted? The voltage difference means yes. I don't like that idea.

  3. IQ is only for determining how well you can take data and process it in a given amount of time. IQ determines things like problem solving. If you are like me, and know things like the max range of an AIM-54 is more than 90 miles, and that the speed of light is 186,000 mps, and orbital velocity at 200 miles up is 17,300 mph, that doesn't affect IQ.

  4. Yes, they would come out of it, but that idea worked for early firearms! And if you want to do the touch hole, wear heavy gloves! You'd get burned by the flames.

The propellant gasses would go out, but if it's a tiny hole big enough for a match, not much would leave. It keeps you from having too big of a fuel/air mix.

PS: If you do the touch hole, it could be dangerous! A powerful flame would come out. You should take a dowel or something and attach the match to it, so you can stay a few feet away and behind the hole (the match doesn't need to go through the hole, it will ignite gas outside and that would lite up the rest)

In my hometown of Pullman Washington, (Wash State Univ) our Parks and Rec dept is overrun by brain dead students who get put in charge of filling the city swimming pool. Every few years, they manage to break the chlorine line and evacuate the neighborhood around it, always managing to kill a couple pets and a kid in the park surrounding the pool. I don't think I'd mess with chlorine after going through that every couple of years.

And yet chlorine is required by the health dept. Surprise surprise! Submit that story to http://www.darwinawards.com, will you? Fits perfectly.

according to Sky News this morning, they said the Hubble has 4 years life left in it Maximum.

Kitty and I were discusing ideas about what to do with it, we wondered if the solar panels could be used on the ISS or even if the whole thing could be intercepted and attatched to the ISS, maybe on an arm so it could still be used as a scope?

it seems a pitifull waste of money just to let it burn up :(

they're probably in different orbits. Then it wouldn't be possible.

  7. Special programs that allow you to access any part of the drive. In fact, I believe that spy Hansen (or Walker) re-formatted a hard drive so it appeared to have less space than it actually did. The information given to the KGB was on the space that "didn't exist". It is possible to read the information that was deleted, you just have to look.

  8. But if you erase the contents and save it blank, it takes less space, and so parts of the original will now be deleted. Someone with proper training can get in and read it. If you were to change it to a bunch of garbled stuff of the exact same size, your file would only have that. The original would be gone.
