  1. hmm... good point. meh, i don't know what i'd do anymore maybe i'd just aim to disarm him. [edit] wow... i just realized that i completely forgot about things that can render a human hindered and in intense pain without having the ability to kill... i guess it was just the mood of the thread that made me feel like that, and whatever mood i was in (no, not killing, being powerful). i was thinking what i'd do if i had my own house (currently i'm 17, in highschool, living with parents). but now i realize (if i were planning ahead), i would buy a stun gun and some pepper spray (or make that home-made pepper spray YT posted somewhere a long time ago). i have no doubt that i could kill someone. all it takes is the ability to have apathy, which i have. but now that i think about it, i probably would avoid killing someone at all costs (eg: if they moved, i wouldn't slit their throat, but i'd attack with the sword if they looked like they were gonna attack me). i also have no doubt that i would attack with full force to protect myself and make sure that there is no way for the person to get me back. and considering i don't have my own house right now, and we don't have a stun gun or pepper spray (nor small swords on display)... i'd (if i were home alone, and the guy was doing more than just grabbing one or two small items.) grab something bashing - looking around all i see are books and SoBe bottles, and a small chair - and throw it at the person (from behind), then attack with full force immediately with my limited knowledge of martial arts (which is maybe about the level of the 3rd color of belt [in the self-defence aspects, not patterns or history or anything])
  2. yeah, probably ;; i mean, if i couldn't sneak up behind the person, i would ditch the house and call the police from my neighbor. and if i came in when it was being robbed, and the guy charged for the door, i might either react by moving out of the way or by tripping him. but if i had time to think, and the guy was intruding when i was home, i would definitely try to do as i said. without knowing intentions, running might attract attention, especially opening and closing a door. and he might come looking for me if i just hide.
  3. i'm partial to stealth tactics. grab a dagger or small sword on display. sneak up behind the intruder. grab him and threaten to cut his throat if he moves. if he doesn't move, tell him to drop his weapon(s), and ask why he is here, then tell him to leave. if he moves, and is holding a weapon, cut his throat. if no weapon, let him move. then tell him to leave. if he catches me sneaking up on him and points a gun at me... figure it out from there. depending on distance: run, or attack with full force disabling the arm holding the gun first. if he catches me sneaking up on him and has a knife in his hand, stay back and tell him to leave. if he attacks, retaliate with full force. if he catches me sneaking up on him and doesn't pull out a weapon, tell him to leave. so... sort of a combination of "extreme" and "minimum necessary".
  4. i listen to trance... lots of trance... and techno... technoey trance.... and i also like some heavy metal, some rock, some pop, some classical... and i never remember artist and album names

    MP3 or RAM

how much music can 512MB hold in MP3s? about 400 minutes worth? that's a good... 50-80 songs, about. and extra space can be used to transfer files from one computer to another... would you need that? 512MB RAM is plenty for normal computer activities. however, if you are a hardcore gamer, 1024MB RAM would be much better. if your video card is fairly advanced, and your sound card is fairly advanced, and your processor is fairly advanced, and you want to play the newer games, then i suggest the RAM if you don't use your computer for games, and you have music that you would like to be able to fit in one small player, or you would have a good use for a larger floppy disk, then i suggest the player.
  6. ah, i misunderstood who you were disagreeing with. i thought you were disagreeing with Mokele in the paragraph i was refering to. i think i just didn't understand your argument. it seems to me that you are contradicting yourself.... good, i did not mean to be offensive or hurtful.
  7. what are you disagreeing on? your story, with your ending, supports entirely what Mokele was saying. it does not, however, support your own argument of "You both can't agree then you both are close minded ." what is ironic is you saying "You make this sounds like a complex thing to understand ." yet you don't really understand what Mokele was saying (i'm not sure if you do or not, but your arguments don't support that you do). and actually, there are a couple other ironic things: that you are being somewhat closed minded about Mokele's argument (infering from your posts). and, in actuality you are the one that is making it complex, Mokele is making it simpler.

    i know everything

lol, that entire thread is 43 pages long, and every post happened within 24 hours and 2 minutes. now that's an accomplishment. here is my question: what is the username and password required to access this site?
  9. skycars... everywhere... oh! oh! and... and 20-story cities! and a holodeck... with video games in it! and make them hard!
  10. when you sleep, your mind goes through 5 stages in 90 minute cycles (it's different for everyone, but the average is about 90 minutes). in the first cycle, REM (2nd stage) takes up the most time (about 70%, or something). in subsequent stages, REM sleep takes up less time, and heavy/deep sleep (non-REM, stages 4 & 5) starts taking more. if you want to get the most out of your sleep, you should wake up about 60 minutes after you last cycle (90 * x + 60 minutes after you fall asleep). and to go to sleep easier and get more rest, you should also excercise about 4-6 hours before you plan on falling asleep (it takes about that much time for your body to feel the effects of exercise).
  11. here's a message board off of the homepage with a category specifically for hints on the puzzles, you could look through that.
  12. I went to preschool when i was 1.5yo.... usually kids won't listen to commands because they don't want to. when you train a dog you cram the word into it's head until it does whatever action when you say the word. if you do that to a baby i'm sure they'd follow commants as well, but nobody would ever want their children to do that, or to put them through that. and notice that dogs live for about 1/4 of the time humans live, so they HAVE to learn basic things fast, humans don't. but humans learn more overall, and just a year later the human toddler would have learned a lot more than the dog.
  13. here is a series of riddles/puzzles. Solve the puzzle on one page to get to the next page. check the hints if you want, it'll clarify some things. just don't look for an faq. good luck....
  14. oh, it's also possible that the brain switch rates could be somewhat dependant on time of day, and that they can be affectded by your career rather than chose your career. people are known to be better at math in the morning and better at creative work in the evening.
  15. i could get the other dots to disappear, but the reappearing rate was not at all constant, and could be slowed with meditation. also, sometimes i couldn't recognize whether they reappeared because my eyes twitched or not. although any distance and dot should work.

  17. relating to "practice and exercise": three ways to exercise the brain are by learning how to focus on one thing, meditate, and multi-task. these are very related. taking a martial art helps a lot with both the ability to focus and to meditate. playing strategic video games helps a lot with both the ability to focus on one thing and to multitask. trying to solve puzzles and brain-teasers helps exercise your brain as well.
  18. i used to play the flute, but not much, only for 2 seperate years, and only beginning-medium classes. now, however, i am taking Advanced Music Tech (2nd year) in high school and am creating some music using Reason 2.5. although i don't know much music theory, so it's not great music.
  19. this is an interesting video that muckrakes some of the election results. just if anyone was curious on such issues.
  20. Science of mind is what brings that which cannot be named, because structure hinders the studier from comprehending the mind in it's true state, as opposed to a bag of satsumas.5 kilos and assorted nuts and bolts which only hinders Anna Kournikova from showing her true fiendish, but perfectly shaped flask containing Ethyl Alcohol. Therefore, the only reason Weetabix lacks a certain resonance is because MUTANT TUNA FISH have taken over ScienceForums the natural mating habits of the admins breakfast cerial(s) are directly proportional to American PI. Now the evidence of this radical statement : fafalone the great is a Cerial Killer, and YT will now be castrated for spelling serial wrong. But what NavajoEverclear doesn't know is that the plan to kill his cerial takes precedence over this never-ending paragraph. And thus, we have the unfortunate situation of cerial dying horrible death alongside the Marsha Clark groupies, inside of your own kitchen. Besides if the aliens found out that Michael Jackson and his quest to make all black men look like white women was going to be sucessful, they'd probably insert anal probes into our brains.

  22. me personally: i love advice when i ask for it, and i like advice when it's helpful. but sometimes people give advice in order to make others think they are smart, or smarter than the one they are giving advice to. i hate that. and i hate it when people give me advice to do something in the same way that i was going to do it, or was in the process of doing. in my town (near San Francisco, California, USA), a lot of kids in my grade are depressed right now. from observations, and interactions with my parents, i've concluded that the main reason is an absence of trust from parents to kids. all our lives we've been taught that we will be something great someday, that there is no end to our possibilities. that's all well and good, but our parents are too worryful and panicky, and retracted that when we got older. instead of still saying we can be great, they gave us advice where we didn't need, want, or invite it, and where it wouldn't help us at all. our parents didn't trust us to be able to do the thinge they gave us advice on without their advice. our parents succumbed to the public fear that all teens are angsty and can't be trusted, so we became angsty to show them that we can be trusted, but they refuse to admit they are wrong. the only reason we don't respect our parents' words is because they are too often wrong and pointless, so we don't know when to trust them or not. and that only makes them want to advise us more, and interfere more. and the country in general doesn't trust our age group, and doesn't want us to become great.

  24. coditioning isn't just repeating an action, it's having the intent to repeat the action and doing so. you didn't have the intent, so you never conditioned yourself.
