  1. Elegant universe rocks, especially for people who dont know alot about physics or the more complicated issues, as i did when first watched it. Yes this series rocks and if possible i recommend to everyone whos ally this fits to try an see it

  2. "how big would one have to be to make antimatter?"

Your looking of something around the size of CERN, the thing is though you need an anti-matter storage system and they take some considerable planning and money

  3. equal only when the angular momentum is an exact multiple of h/2pi, otherwise it will radiate the energy (moslty in the form of photons) untill it obeys this rule, the 1 quantum state is only a description and a vague one at that, for some interesting reading fellowes and an idea of whats ahead read about the cloud model of the atom, whereas these states are more viewed as electron density clouds are the probability of finding electrons in such positions, the primary quantum numbers represent the 99% chance of finding the electron there.

  4. simply put the opposite of gravity is no gravity at all, this is how i see it (correct me if im wrong) like the trampoline analogy the ball under pushing it upwards would still be normal gravity, the only opposite i can see with a basic comprhension that breaks no laws is anti-gravity would be like a flat smooth trampoline that has no distortions, hope it helps noz. Actually can anyone see a flaw in this, i mean its no theory dosent make definite predictiopns but it seems to hold true

  5. :) when i started reading on this (principle of interdeterminancy) in year 10 it confused the hell outta me only because the principle undermines a statement i also heard to be true that the exact position and momentum can be known of an electron (of which it certainly is true!) so i decided to let fellowes of the confusion i found through no "thorough" explanation which i would consider to be a class on it
  6. how did u get 35 is so short time?

By spending my weekends at the shops buying all different sorts of chemicals and then converting them to there elemental form, started with making H2(g) by electrolysis and then i stored it, not knowing what to do with it then decided after reading an old thread on this forum (those collections you can buy) to start making my own collection..having trouble thinking of viable ways to get Li,Na,Ca i thought of electrolysis of seawater but i dont know all the details yet

  7. well think of it this way, besides you know the awnser..i assume but because you didnt post any sorta explanation kinda makes me wonder whether you do......... but if it didnt work the way i said we wouldnt have hydrogen would we? pffft, anyway because hydrogen on its own becomes an ion (and it dosent collapse) due to the mechanics of how and where forces lie, it wont fall in.

Martin yuo should know the through explanation will go way over the head of a yr 9 student. what i stupid idea trying to suggest i give him the full explanation.....what an idiotic idea, so instead is try and remember what a yr 9 student knows and portay the best possible picture i can (with basic historical notions of why hence bohrs h/2pi because thats the way it is and explain it after). BTW you still havent found me the explanation to the charge question (rather cunningly dodged)

  8. all i know about HCl is that it has a horrible after taste.

Other than that its quite nice :)

yea, you can taste the HCl outta your stomach when you spew, thats the bitter taste.

budullewraagh ive got some 50% supersaturated stuff can yiou tell me what is the pH or what is the conc in molL-1? Also a side q, how can i seperate Zn from a solution of ZnCl as i dissolved yellow zinc in my Hcl and want pure zinc, will the chromate make a problem?

  9. Because the electron cant collapse in, its held in an orbit(1s) according to the schrodinger equation because its angular momentum has to be an exact multiple of h/2pi. this is a rough description of how it behaves because there are more complicated principles of which you'll only learn later.

  10. Soz about the double post but i just had another relevant question bout teh white holes, arent they 'supposed to be connected by wormholes to black holes'? i thought one cannot create wormholes so how would a black hole be able to? and if they cant then they cant be linked to white holes, unless blackholes always form over already present wormholes.............

  11. if gravity is a distortion of space time, can there be an anti distortion? i cant see how there could be. If antiuniverses were real would they still have gravity exactly like our own or would it be anti-gravity?

  12. well what do you want to know? the coupling constant is just the measure of the strength of the electromagnetic force that controls how electrically chagred elementary particles (ie muon) interact with the photon. Currently, the value of SOMMERFIELD FINE STRUCTURE CONSTANT-> (alpha) having the smallest uncertainty comes from the comparison of the theoretical expression ae(theor) and the experimental expression ae of the electron magnetic moment ae

  13. Thanks for the help YT but i learned this in 7th form physics, this is moving charges etc. i want to know is what property makes the electron negative, ie why does electron have -1 charge and charm quarks have a +2/3 charge, bottom -1/3 etc, what makes them negative apart from the fact that they are.
