  1. I am an element collector and i am looking for easy-to-find elements. I would like it if you could name a few pure elements that are easy to get (without buying them online). And if you do say one in its compound could you please explain how i could extract the elemental form?
  2. I am a collector. I have around 33 samples (almost all in compounds) the only pure ones i have are magnesium, carbon, argon, krypton, tungsten, lead, zinc, tin, and a few more. I am making a series on YouTube soon called extracting the elements where i extract elements from their compounds. My channel is Sor sor science07 if you want to check it out... yes bromine would be a very large hazard. Halogens are very reactive (and toxic) I would store those ampules in a soft container maybe filled with polyestrine
  3. Yeah, probably the aluminum-gallium alloy. Sorry you lost some gallium, i know how expensive it is
  4. Yes you actually can. If you mix Sodium Hydroxide with Magnesium or Aluminum powder and ignite it there will be a thermite. If you pour the slag into a container of mineral oil and water the sodium goes to the top...
  5. I am starting a series on YouTube of extracting the elements. I already know what im going to do for Hydrogen (electrolysis) but im having a harder time with Helium. I know that pure Helium would suffocate you so they mix it with Oxygen in balloons so if people breath it in they wont die. I thought of somehow separating the mixture by density: helium is lighter than air so it rises, but oxygen makes up air but nitrogen makes up the majority of air and nitrogen is more dense than oxygen. I would like it if someone could tell me how to separate this mixture so i can have a pure sample of helium for my collection
  6. I recently learned that inside of those "pop-its" there was about 0.8 milligrams of silver fulminate. This is my first thing on these forums so no judgement . I was wondering if i could somehow extract this silver fulminate. I dont know what i would use it for, maybe exploding arrows? (for targets not animals). I cant find the MSDS for solubility. If someone could tell me what it is soluble in i would really enjoy that. -Soren
