  1. One? Really? This is hard! Probably Brain Damage/Eclipse of Pink Floyd. Oldie, but it makes my heart skirt.
  2. It is not a secret that the teaching of scientific lessons at schools is at a very low level. In my country, we're really advanced in mathematics, but in physics, we're hardly scientifically litterate; most of the students nowadays don't even know the Earth completes a revolution around itself every 24 hours or that we belong in the milky way galaxy. Actually, I'm not even sure the students know what a galaxy is. From what I've heard from my friends from other countries, things are the same everywhere. Students learn the foil method in their senior year, astronomy doesn't even exist in schools and experiments is an unknown word. Being scientifically litterate is important. If we all knew some basics of science, we'd understand why space exploration is important and we'd avoid the frauds of pseudoscience. But most importantly, we'd be able to understand the world around us. So, I'd really like to hear your thoughts about the subject and beyond the theoretical aspect of the issue, I'd like to hear your ideas about how we can put this into practice.
  3. Hey! I'm Maria and from what I've read up to now I'm not smart enough to be here, haha. I'm mostly here to learn stuff and contribute wherever I can. So, hello!
  4. I think that we only have the concept of time because we have memories. To us, there is a past, which is what our memories describe, there is present, what we're living right now, and there is future, what we haven't lived yet. If we didn't have memories, would these concepts make any sense to us? There would only be the now, nothing else.I know othing about what time is, but I think it is really, really complicated.
  5. I think that it is almost impossible that life doesn't exists anywhere else in the Universe. The Cosmos is so vast that life cannot be the property of just one of its smallest pixels. Also, the ingredients of life exist everywhere; after all, even the molecules of our bodies are traceable to old stars. Communication with this life will be very difficult for various reasons; not only the distance between Earth and the possibly inhibited planet would be vast and therefore the communication would be very slow, but it would also take time to learn the language of the other beings, if they have a language. We might also be too developed to establish a communication with the alien beings or the other way round. But I think technology will allow us to do so; we have established a communication with dolphins, the aliencivilidsation won't be the problem.
