I recall a comparison made by a forensic anthropologist of a Neanderthal hunter skeleton to the pattern of injuries sustained by various occupational groups today. The conclusion was the closest matched pattern was with rodeo clowns. Since humans are like large ornery animals, close combat with peers might have been at least partly responsible for a portion of those injuries.
